Job Description Summary

Provide technical leadership for Non-Destructive Testing for the facility as Level 3 for GEESM. In addition, acts as a resource to provide oversight and direction to assure that GEESM NDT Policies and Procedures are maintained in accordance with the EN 4179, Authorities and Headquarters guidelines. NDT methods including Liquid Penetrant Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Eddy Current Testing and Ultrasonic Testing.

Role Overview

  • Ensure the NDT processes are compliant to airworthiness requirements, approved data (OEM Manuals, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, etc) and industrial standards.
  • Ensure NDT technicians received the proper training, evaluations, and exams in accordance with EN4179 and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage qualification and ongoing approval of a team of NDT technicians, develop training plans and keep records for all NDT levels.
  • Review and approve the written practice for the training, qualification and certification of NDT personnel in accordance with EN4179 and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training of NDT activities for NDT technicians.
  • Establish and approve NDT methods and techniques and supporting procedures in line with company and regulatory requirements for each method used within GEESM. Approve new or revised work instructions, operation sheets, routers, and technical plans.
  • Ensure the adequacy of the NDT facilities, materials and equipment in use including adequate programme for the maintenance and calibration. Providing guidance on equipment purchases and approving their use after installation or major maintenance.
  • Perform the annual maintenance of the NDT staff at the organisation or nominates another Level 3 in the method to perform the annual maintenance.
  • Report non-compliance of established procedures and system weaknesses and deficiencies to Management for remedial or improvement actions.
  • Participating in identifying root causes and developing and implementing corrective actions for non-compliances involving special processes.
  • Drive root cause and corrective actions leading to prompt resolution of audit findings
  • Support and oversight Cleaning and Inspection operation activities and competency of the technicians.
  • Providing technical direction, counsel, and shop support.
  • Liaise with Airworthiness Authorities (CAAM, FAA, EASA, etc.) to maintain compliance with the appropriate Air Agency Legislation and coordinate all matters pertaining to approvals, manuals and audit/ inspection at GEESM facilities.
  • Ensure all procedures documented in the Authorities’ Manuals MOE, and local procedures are in compliance with the Company, Manufacturers and Authorities requirements.
  • Auditing of areas in GEESM, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the requirements are met and providing feedback to management.
  • Support in customer and regulatory audits.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong background in aviation quality and engineering specifically in NDT, possessing EN4179 NDT Level 3 certification for at least one of the methods (FPI, MPI, ET or UT) with minimum of two years experiences as NDT Level 3.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified NDT Level 3 (FPI, MPI, ET or UT) under EN4179 as administered by BINDT or PCN/ AERO Level 3 or ASNT Level 3, with minimum of 2 years’ experience as NDT Level 3, with documented certification records.
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering/Operations Management or other related technical fields.
  • QMR IRCA Lead Assessor Training course or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Aviation Regulations such as CAAM Part 145, EASA Part 145, FAA Part 145 etc including Safety Management System.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken and the ability to interact at all levels.
  • Able to assimilate information quickly and make fact-based decisions. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Able to work independently and flexible with minimum supervision.
