The Role
The Sales Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the sales activities and the engagement with customers to ensure the achievement of the targeted business growth & profitability.
The Sales Manager will work closely with the Head of Sales for the region as well as sales, operations, planning teams (in own and/or other geographic regions) to assess importance and potential of customers at global level and ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Develop an outstanding relationship with the customer through very strong network, clear and professional communication to ensure that Suttons is the customer’s preferred partner
- Sales Manager tracks KPIs of customer satisfaction and ensure issues are escalated and addressed internally as well as with customers
- Engages actively with customers to understand their needs & challenges. Liaise with the Technical, Operational, Planning team to ensure problem solving for customers by developing innovative and tailored solutions
- Negotiate and discuss commercial items with customers on a timely manner. Communicate outcome of commercial agreement internally to relevant department and persons to ensure proper billing
- Customer meetings & commercial discussions are thoroughly and methodically prepared
- Consolidate and reports customer meeting’s minutes to customers and internally within max 3 days
- Acts as the customers ambassador internally at Suttons
- Recognises the criticality of SHEQ. Supports, delivers and maintains close relationships and communicate effectively with Operations, Purchasing and SSHEQ teams
- Ensure all customer requirements with regards to service, billing, administration and SHEQ are fully understood prior to commencement of new business across all departments/functions
- Applies defined Sales process & reporting tool from business acquisition to business conclusion. Promotes the use of the relevant systems and processes to ensure that accurate data and information are collected. Focus on providing accurate first load process with operations in case of new business
- Works alongside operational and accounts receivable teams to ensure customer payments are received in a timely fashion and to resolve overdue payment issues when they occur
- Actively contributes to accurate forecasting of customer sales and prepares the required reports through collation and analysis of information. Track customer tendered/forecasted volumes vs actual supplied and engages into discussion as &when deviations are seen
- Understand the costing and challenges the set routing. Sets a pricing which aligns with Internal targets while secures business acquisition
- The sales managers engages internally with Head of Sales and Network Optimization managers to share market feedback to target rates
- Maintain and update all customer records, leads, quotations, visits and engagement logs in the Salesforce CRM tool
- Monitor and identify market shifts & competition status, formulate short and long terms activities to capture benefits and mitigates business risks
- Keeps professional and technical knowledge up to date and has deep knowledge of the segment and ability to provide a compelling presentation to customers
Experience
- +2 years experience, within a fast-paced sales environment
- Experience working with, and managing internal and external customers
- Knowledge of logistics, freight forwarding/NVOCC services, chemical sectors would be an advantage
- Self-driven and results-oriented business hunter
- Motivated to develop and drive a sales plan to increase sales
- Strong business sense and industry expertise
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to priorities, work to deadlines without supervision, while in meantime an excellent team player
- Able to deal with complex commercial issues quickly and easily. Comfortable and experienced at handling sensitive and difficult situations with customers, while preserving quality of relationship
- Empathic communicator, ability to see things from the other person's point of view
- Analytical
- Strong negotiator skills
- Strong IT skills, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint are essential
- Numerate, analytical and IT literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM platforms
- English written and spoken skills essential
