The Position
We are looking for you to join Roche and our Roche Services & Solutions Center in Kuala Lumpur.

Sanctions compliance is an integral part of Roche’s Export Control and Sanctions Compliance Program. It is a sophisticated process framework to ensure that the Roche Group including all its affiliates and partner companies, as well as employees and contractors do not engage in sanctions violations. Sanctions violations are activities that provide economic resources to individuals, companies or countries that are engaged in activities violating national security, such as terrorism or proliferation. We have the duty to prevent, recognize and stop any activities that could lead to a sanctions violation. The continuous assessment of our contractual partners and their links to sanctionable activities is thus a core activity of our program. We are the watchful eye of the Roche Group, working in the background to provide a safe haven for our colleagues to focus on our core activities, the servicing of our patients worldwide.
Your day to day responsibilities are:
As a Sanctions Compliance Associate, you will contribute to the maintenance and development of the Roche Group’s export control and sanctions compliance program and support the global sanctions compliance experts in preparing controversial sanctions hit cases for further evaluation. In this role, you are responsible for maintaining sanctions compliance by regularly monitoring sanctions hits generated by automated and semi-automated sanctions comparison processes, evaluate the first results of such sanctions comparison and perform a second sanctions check to identify clearly false hits.

In this role, you are responsible for maintaining sanctions compliance by regularly monitoring sanctions hits generated by automated and semi-automated sanctions comparison processes, evaluate the first results of such sanctions comparison and perform a second sanctions check to identify clearly false hits.
You will be :
Daily support in connection with automated sanctions screening processes:
- Perform sanctions screening as requested and communicate results as outlined in the existing Desktop Procedures / manual. Monitor business partner data transfer and evaluate the error logs in the automated screening system. Evaluate and fix incomplete documents triggered by missing master data or config (e.g. Customer, Vendor, Material, bank, etc.)
- Raise a ticket to other support teams (e.g. Master data, Aspire or SAP GTS) to resolve data or config issues that are pre-requisites or post-requisites in resolving issues that the team is responsible to resolve. Review and perform applicable actions on the list of blocked business partners and blocked documents in the automated screening system (GTS)
- Collect the business partner data and Foreign trade organization/company code usage from the relevant in the feeder systems. Inform the local representatives of the Roche affiliates (e.g. Document creator and/or Local Export Control Officers or LECO) whose sales/Purchase/payment documents have been blocked due to sanctions check
- Release blocks on obvious false hits as instructed by the sanctions screening experts. Document the screening tools results and release decisions for specific requests
- Refer the list of documents and partners requiring further sanctions investigations to the sanctions experts and other RSS locations to sufficiently cover worldwide time zones
- Retrieve the dataset to be screened from the relevant IT systems and other sources (e.g. e-banking tool, Roche affiliated company data provision, Shared drives, etc.). Cross-check the dataset with the SPL and 50% /control lists provided by sanctions screening experts at regular intervals
- Evaluate the first result of the comparison and identify reason for the SPL match (which SPL list, which data element triggered the match). Perform a second-level verification by running the blocked data through the screening verification tool to filter out obvious false hits generated by the first screening based on the process instruction by sanctions compliance experts. Identify line items having obvious false matches based on the logical evaluation steps instructed by the sanctions screening experts

Furthermore, you have:
- Ability to handle large amount of data with attention to detail and process accuracy. Strong analytical, investigative and due diligence skills. Previous background in compliance operations (sanctions, enhanced due diligence, AML etc.) is a plus
- User level familiarity with SAP. Knowledge of the SAP FI, SD and MM modules is a plus
- Demonstrated delivery focus and execution. Stakeholder management and excellent communication skills. Adaptability and willingness to adjust to evolving regulations, tools and internal policies
- Ability to manage several demands and parallel tasks , setting up the right priorities
- Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken) are essential, fluency in Chinese is a plus
