Job Summary
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, your primary responsibility will be overseeing procurement processes, assisting in both cost monitoring and control. You will play a pivotal role in the pre-contract and post-contract stages of various projects, ensuring that every financial aspect is meticulously managed to maintain the integrity of project budgets. Your expertise will also contribute to adhering to company standards regarding Quality, Safety & Health, and Environment, making your role crucial to our project success.
1. Pre-Contract Stage
- Support the establishment of project budgets in collaboration with management and relevant stakeholders.
- Engage in the pre-qualification of tenderers by sourcing, identifying, evaluating, and recommending suitable candidates for tender participation.
- Conduct cost analysis, including a thorough review of pretender estimates, comparative evaluation of submitted tenders, and elemental cost analysis specifically for building and infrastructure works.
- Thoroughly review tender and contract documents to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Assist in coordinating procurement exercises, which involve calling tenders, reviewing tender reports, attending interviews, negotiating, and finalising awards to successful bidders.
- Review and rationalise submitted rates to ensure they align with project budgets and industry standards.
2. Post Contract Stage
- Conduct regular site valuations and process interim progress claims in a timely manner, typically on a monthly basis.
- Review variations submitted for approval, ensuring they are justified and within the project's financial framework.
- Participate in final account reviews to ensure all cost aspects have been accurately accounted for.
- Monitor the ongoing contractual status of projects, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and aid in maintaining accurate project accounting.
3. Other Responsibilities
- Prepare quotation documents for minor and new works, ensuring accuracy and clarity in cost presentation.
- Compile and collate cost data reports to aid in future project bidding and strategy formulation.
- Maintain the GLPP and standard tender documents relevant to the Contracts & Commercial department.
- Support cost estimation initiatives for new land feasibility studies as required.
4. Ensure compliance with company policies regarding Quality, Safety & Health and Environment, particularly as they relate to job scope and workplace conditions.
5. Perform any additional duties assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to team objectives.
Candidate to hold a degree, diploma, or certificate in Quantity Surveying or Building Technology, providing a strong foundation for the responsibilities outlined. Continuous professional development through seminars or workshops in quantity surveying, cost management, and contract law will be highly advantageous. Relevant certifications or memberships with professional bodies will also support your application.

To qualify for this position, candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying or a related field. This experience should encompass both pre and post-contract phases of project management, demonstrating a thorough understanding of cost control mechanisms and procurement strategies in the construction industry.
