Safety team at Grab is committed to ensuring the safety of our users across all services. By focusing on consumer safety, we directly impact the lives of millions, preventing incidents and building trust within our ecosystem. Our team develops and implements crucial safety features such as AudioProtect, rider verification, live tracking, and more, creating a safer environment for everyone.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer, Fullstack to join the Safety team under the Integrity Tech Family. You will build and maintain scalable backend systems, and develop user-friendly web applications that power essential safety features. You will also focus on processing real-time signals and ensuring high reliability to support Grab's mission of creating a safety environment for all users. You will report to the Engineering Manager of the Safety team, work onsite at Grab office and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Develop and implement new features across the full stack, utilizing TypeScript and React for the front-end interface and Golang for the backend services.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable backend APIs and services in Golang to support and enhance Grab's user safety features.
• Work with real-time data streams to integrate new signals and data into safety systems, ensuring timely and reliable processing of information.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across the front-end applications and backend services, resolving operational incidents under the guidance of senior team members.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality code and uphold development standards.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of both new and existing codebases.
• Assist in maintaining and optimizing existing system components to ensure reliability, efficiency, and scalability for our growing user base.
• Learn and apply engineering best practices in areas like distributed systems, system design, and performance optimization.
  
  

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Graduate in Computer Science or related field with hands-on coding experience from 3 to 6-months internships or personal projects.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language like Go, Java, C++, or Python, with a willingness to learn Go.
• Competence in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) and experience with frameworks like React.
• Basic understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and RESTful API design.
• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and basic SQL querying.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control (Git), unit testing, and CI/CD concepts
