Responsibilities
Make an impact The incumbent will bear the system responsibility for the new automated and integrated material handling system projects, based on defined customer requirements and optimized operation processes. It includes:
- The logistic system concept / layout in accordance with customer requirements and needs;
- Implementation of the logistic system concept / plant layout in system engineering (offer) and detail engineering work (detailed specification phase);
- Consistency of the physical and logical layouts; and
- Definition and feasibility of the assured characteristics, including acceptance (in conjunction with System Engineer) Solution design projects (during offer phase) are carried out by a Solution Designer, under the management of the Sales Manager. He shall actively involve in the sales phase by supporting the Sales Manager in selling the solutions to the customers Job Responsibilities:
- Investigate and review customer’s requirements.
- Collect customer project data, if required, and analyse received data.
- Define design parameter based on the result of data analysis.
- Develop possible solutions based on defined customer requirements / design parameters.
- Design and propose suitable sub-systems based on detailed equipments performance calculation.
- Prepare presentation (PowerPoint) and present the proposed solutions to the customer in workshop or meeting.
- To request for suppliers quotations (RFQ) for sub-systems including preparing sub-systems requirement specification, liaise with suppliers, review suppliers’ quotations, define gaps between supplier’s quotation against RFQ etc.
- Analysing the sub-system of the suppliers incl. the functionalities and the according scope of supply.
- Prepare technical descriptions of proposed system for tender submission, as well as functional descriptions.
- Prepare PowerPoint presentation of the proposed system for tender interview and clarification.
- Actively support the Sales Manager, technically, during sales and tender clarification phases. He/She shall take a key role technically to convince the customer to buy the proposed system.
- Carry out detailed engineering work of the chosen system during detailed specification phase.
What you need to succeed
- A Bachelor degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years working experience, with 3 years of working experience in industrial system design capacity.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Access) and 2D/3D CAD tools.
- Pleasant personality, attention to details, organized with good communication and presentation skills.
- Good automated logistics system knowledge for integrated systems.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
