RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to: Supervisor under the direction of Corps Officer

DUTY HOURS

The total work hours is 45 hours per week.

Under normal circumstaances the hours of duty will be as follows

9:00am to 6:00pm - Monday to Friday (1 hour lunch break).

It will be at the discretion of your Centre/Department in charge or his/her assigned representatives to determine whether you will be required to work any of the unutilised hours according to the operational needs of the Centre/Department and within the legitimacy of the employment laws where applicable.

JOB SUMMARY

The Teacher assists Supervisor with the day-to-day running of the day care centre. The Teacher is expected to serve as a good role model for the children of the Centre. The Teacher should be observant and attentive to the needs of the children.

The Teacher is to ensure that she performs her job in compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures including the Territorial Child Protection Policy and all relevant government rules and regulations including those governing the Education Act, Malaysia.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Plan and implement programmes (Eg: Outings, Sports Day, Concert & etc).

2) Plan and prepare daily timetable for learning. Ensure that the timetable are followed accordingly. Any deviation must be consulted and approved by the Supervisor.

3) Attend and assist the daily routine of the students within the centre programme i.e. study time, toileting, refreshment, nap time, lunch time, self-care etc.

4) Prepare all materials required for daily lessons. Do lessons preparation for online class, in the event, couldn't do face to face lesson with students (Eg: during MCO).

5) Responsible to check and mark students' homework and class work.

6) Prepare refreshments for morning and afternoon tea break.

7) Attend to parents and students during their arrivals and departures from the centre on a rotation basis and as needed.

8) Supervise students' indoor and outdoor play activities and ensure safety at all times.

9) Record in the daily log book any changes in daily schedules, any accidents or other occurrences relating to assigned classes, and also to notify Supervisor on such matters immediately.

10) Institute all disciplinary measures when necessary in the care management of the children and must be consistent with The Salvation Army policies so established.

11) Feedback to Supervisor / Corps Officers and parents of students' progress as and when necessary.

12) Feedback to Supervisor / Corps Officers any suggestions/ complaints received from parents for necessary actions.

OTHER DUTIES:

13) Attend relevant staff training, seminars and conferences as determined by the Corps Officers/Supervisor.

14) Support and participate in The Salvation Army fund raising events.

15) Perform any other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position


QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Early Childhood Education;
  • Must possess MCE/SPM certificate.
  • Teaching experiences in a kindergarten will be advantageous. Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Early Childhood Education;
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Kindergarten, Tuition Centre and Daycare Centre environments.
  • Process good communication skills and ability to introduce new concepts to students.
  • Able to introduce variety of creativity lessons with different learning styles to students.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
