Job Description
Role Overview:
MECA is looking for a Sales Intern to support the Sales & Marketing team primarily with client and prospect follow-ups. This role is suitable for students or fresh graduates who are interested in learning about sales communication, client engagement, and administrative coordination in a professional services environment.
The intern will assist with follow-up calls, emails, WhatsApp messages, updating client records, and supporting the team in tracking interest for MECA memberships, training programmes, consultancy services, and events.
Key Responsibilities
The Sales Intern will assist with:
1. Follow-Up Calls
o Contact prospects, members, and clients to follow up on enquiries, registrations, invitations, and sales campaigns.
oHelp confirm interest, obtain basic information, and update the team on client responses.
oEscalate interested prospects or important enquiries to the relevant team member for further action.
2. Email and WhatsApp Follow-Ups
o Assist in sending follow-up emails and WhatsApp messages based on approved templates.
o Share brochures, flyers, registration links, forms, and other relevant materials with clients and prospects.
o Track responses and ensure follow-ups are recorded properly.
3.Client and Prospect Updates
o Update client information, contact details, follow-up status, and notes in HubSpot or other internal tracking systems.
o Maintain organised records of calls, messages, and responses.
o Help ensure the sales database remains accurate and up to date.
4. Sales Campaign Support
o Assist with follow-ups for MECA memberships, public courses, in-house training enquiries, and major events.
o Support the team in tracking leads, registrations, and interested companies.
o Help prepare simple follow-up lists and status updates for the Sales & Marketing team.
5. General Sales Support
o Assist with basic administrative tasks related to sales and client communication.
o Coordinate internally to ensure enquiries are directed to the right person.
o Support other related tasks assigned by the Sales & Marketing team.
Job Requirements
Requirements:- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Human Resource Management, Law, or a related field.
- Good communication skills in English. Bahasa Malaysia will be an added advantage.
- Comfortable speaking to people over the phone and following up through email or WhatsApp.
- Polite, organised, responsible, and willing to learn.
- Able to think on the spot and follow instructions accurately.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office or CRM systems will be an advantage.
- Prior sales experience is not required, but a positive attitude and confidence in communicating with people are important. However, sales experience will be an added advantage.
During the internship, the intern will gain practical exposure to:
- Professional client follow-up and communication.
- B2B sales support and lead tracking.
- Better understanding of people skills and interaction.
- Phone, email, and WhatsApp etiquette in a business setting.
- CRM and database management.
- Sales support for memberships, training programmes, consultancy services, and events.
- How a professional employer advisory firm engages with clients and prospects.
