Job Responsibility

  • Conduct regular on-site inspections of architectural and civil & structural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant building codes, meticulously documenting any deviations or non-conformities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices related to architectural and civil & structural engineering, proactively advising the project team on any changes or updates.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues, address design discrepancies, and ensure seamless coordination between different trades, facilitating effective communication in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin as needed.
  • Implement and enforce rigorous quality control procedures throughout the construction process, including material testing, workmanship assessments, and adherence to established quality assurance (QA) protocols, identifying and rectifying any defects or deficiencies promptly.
  • Prepare detailed daily reports, progress updates, and photographic documentation to track construction progress, highlight potential risks, and communicate key findings to the project manager and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential problems or conflicts on-site, utilizing strong problem-solving skills and construction knowledge to develop practical solutions that minimize delays and maintain project timelines, while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements to ensure compliance with design intent and project specifications, providing constructive feedback and guidance to contractors and subcontractors as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 6 years of proven experience as a Clerk of Works, specifically within architectural, civil, and structural projects.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of relevant Malaysian building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in conducting detailed on-site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
  • Ability to identify and resolve construction-related issues promptly and effectively, utilizing strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin, to effectively liaise with contractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, defects, and corrective actions.
  • Experience in implementing and monitoring quality assurance (QA) procedures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawings and structural designs to ensure accurate execution on site.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating strong leadership qualities.
  • Preferable registered as Inspector-Of-Works (IOW) with Board of Architects Malaysia (BAM)/Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM).
