The Position
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Data Engineering Intern to join our pharmaceutical company’s dynamic data team. This internship is a fantastic opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in developing, maintaining, and optimizing the data pipelines and infrastructure that power our analytics, business intelligence, and data science initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about data, eager to learn, and has a foundational understanding of cloud data technologies, Python programming, and data engineering concepts from their coursework or personal projects.
In this role, you will work with large-scale pharmaceutical and healthcare datasets, learning how to manage data in a secure, compliant, and efficient environment. Under the guidance of our senior data engineers, you will contribute to meaningful projects that enhance data quality and delivery, providing you with invaluable industry experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Support: Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines and foundational ETL/ELT processes for both structured and unstructured data
- Data Modeling & Transformation: Support the implementation of data models in Snowflake and learn to apply DBT for data transformation and modeling tasks
- Cloud Infrastructure: Gain exposure to our AWS-based data infrastructure (e.g., S3, Lambda, Glue) by supporting the team in management and monitoring tasks
- Troubleshooting & Documentation: Help monitor the performance of data pipelines, troubleshoot basic issues with guidance, and contribute to the documentation of data processes
- Data Preparation: Assist our data teams by preparing and validating datasets for analysis and data science workflows
- Process Improvement: Participate in discussions about identifying and implementing improvements to data flow and infrastructure, and learn about data governance and security best practices in a regulated industry
- Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- Experience: Relevant experience through academic projects, coursework, or previous internships in data engineering or a related area
- Technical Skills:
- Basic proficiency in Python for data processing and scripting
- Familiarity with SQL for querying and data analysis
- Exposure to cloud services, particularly AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue), through coursework or hands-on learning is a plus
- Eagerness to Learn: A strong desire to learn and work with modern data tools such as Snowflake, DBT, and orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow, Prefect)
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and clear communication skills
- Interests: A genuine interest in data security, privacy, and compliance practices
