The L2 Support Team for Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Disaster Recovery (DR), Archival, and Data Retention plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability, security, and regulatory compliance of finance applications within the insurance industry. This team ensures that critical business functions can continue during and after a disaster, and that data is archived and retained in accordance with industry regulations and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

Business Continuity Planning (BCP)

  • Develop and Maintain BCP: Create and update comprehensive business continuity plans that address potential risks and ensure operational resilience.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess risks that could impact finance applications and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Business Impact Analysis (BIA): Conduct BIAs to determine the potential impact of disruptions on business operations and prioritize recovery strategies.
  • Testing and Drills: Organize and conduct regular BCP testing and drills to ensure readiness and effectiveness, and make necessary adjustments based on test results.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide training and raise awareness among employees about business continuity processes and responsibilities.


Disaster Recovery (DR)

  • DR Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement DR plans that ensure rapid recovery of finance applications in the event of a disaster.
  • DR Environment Build: Establish and build DR environment for critical applications
  • Backup Management: Ensure regular backups of critical data and applications, and verify the integrity and availability of backup data.
  • DR Testing: Conduct regular DR tests to validate the effectiveness of recovery procedures and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Coordination with IT Teams: Work closely with IT infrastructure and operations teams to align DR plans with overall IT strategies and capabilities.
  • Incident Response: Lead the response to actual disasters, coordinating recovery efforts and communication with stakeholders.


Archival

  • Data Archival Strategy: Develop and implement a data archival strategy that meets business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Archival Processes: Establish processes for the secure and efficient archival of finance application data.
  • Archival Systems: Manage and maintain archival systems, ensuring they are reliable and accessible for data retrieval.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure the integrity and security of archived data, protecting it from unauthorized access and corruption.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all archival practices comply with industry regulations and organizational policies.


Data Retention

  • Retention Policies: Develop and enforce data retention policies that define how long different types of data must be retained.
  • Retention Schedules: Create and manage data retention schedules that ensure timely disposition of data in accordance with policies.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with data retention policies and schedules, and address any non-compliance issues.
  • Data Disposal: Ensure the secure and compliant disposal of data that is no longer needed or has reached the end of its retention period.
  • Audits and Reporting: Conduct regular audits of data retention practices and provide reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.


Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in business continuity planning, disaster recovery, data archival, and data retention, preferably within the finance or insurance industry
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, finance applications, and disaster recovery technologies
  • Technical Knowledge: Azure Site Recovery (ASR), Cloud Storage Lifecycle Management, Terraform; Scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to data retention and archival in the insurance sector.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.


Additional Skills

  • Experience with financial products, applications, or regulatory reporting applications, such as Prophet, SAS, SunGL, OneStream, Oracle ERP, IFRS17, others
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus
