R&D Manager - Food Industry

Our client is a well-know international company and supplier of food ingredients for spices, herbs, blends, marinades and sauces as well as technical seasoning blends. The company generates consolidated sales of around 750 million euros worldwide. Its markets are snacks, meat, fish, dairy products, vegetables, soups, sauces or bread and pastry products. Worldwide, the company has production facilities in North America, Europe and Greater China. Due to its global expansion in Southeast Asia, we are looking for an R&D Manager with a focus on our customers in Malaysia and Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively working with the customer in Singapore regarding existing projects and new business inquires
• Frequently traveling between Johor Bahru and Singapore
• Fully in charge of increasing the revenue in the region of Southeast Asia and Singapore
• Able to travel within the Southeast region to visit new customers and its R&D centers.
• Daily R&D job includes:
  • Evaluate new spice formula for sauce, blending dry food application
  • Conduct sensory evaluation and shelf-life tests
  • Maintain proper documentation to support costing, labeling, scale up and production of new and existing products
  • Work closely with inter-departments on the development and launch of new or improved recipes
  • Manage scale-up of new recipes from laboratory scale to production scale with the team in Mainland China
  • Lead and conduct investigations and perform trouble-shooting to resolve quality or processing issues
  • Ensure product compliance with food regulations
  • Perform ad-hoc duties assigned by immediate superior or customer in Singapore
  • Travel frequently within Singapore to visit key customers
  • Training will be provided in China, USA, Germany and Brazil

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in R&D food industry
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in food science & technology or similar discipline
• Proficient in Mandarin and English (spoken and written) to liaise with associates
• Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
