About the role
The Regional Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Manager supports the SEA foodservice leadership team to develop, implement, and continuously improve an SEA HSW Plan aligned with the Co-op's Strategic HSW Plan.
This role is part of the Global HSW team, with a matrix reporting relationship to the Head of Operations – SEA.
Responsibilities include providing expert guidance, supporting leaders to conform with local regulations and Fonterra Global Standards, and fostering a culture of safety and care across all in-market operations.
The role partners with in-market leaders and cross-functional teams to embed HSW practices that enable safe work, thriving people, enhanced performance, and sustainable business outcomes.
Accountabilities
- HSW Strategy & Leadership: Facilitate development and support implementation of regional HSW plans aligned with Fonterra’s Strategic HSW Plan, Global Standards, and local regulatory requirements. Provide leadership and coaching to build HSW capability and drive a proactive safety culture.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Advise and enable leaders in identifying, assessing, and managing HSW risks, especially critical risks. Support compliance with legislation and Fonterra protocols, incident reporting, learning from incidents, and corrective actions. Lead efforts on worker fitness-for-work as required.
- Wellbeing Programme Development: Design and coordinate wellbeing initiatives supporting mental, physical, and emotional health. Partner with Health, Rehabilitation & Psychosocial Safety, P&C, and SEA Foodservice Leaders. Lead EAP and Workers compensation management within the global framework.
- Training & Capability Building: Develop and deliver HSW training programmes to build awareness and competence. Support safety leadership, risk management, control verification, and wellbeing training.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track and analyse HSW performance metrics. Provide regular reporting to the Head of Operations – SEA and stakeholders. Share insights and best practices to drive improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Support: Act as a trusted advisor to in-market leaders. Collaborate with P&C, Operations, and other functions. Represent SEA in regional HSW forums and initiatives.
- Assurance & Monitoring: Coordinate and oversee Key Control Inspections, Assessments, and System Verifications. Monitor closure of findings and continuous improvement of HSW systems.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or related field. Certification in safety auditing, critical risk management, or wellbeing is advantageous.
- 7–10 years in HSW roles, including regional or multi-site responsibility. FMCG, manufacturing, or foodservice experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HSW legislation in SEA, critical risk management, and wellbeing programme design.
- Proven ability to influence and coach across cultures and functions.
- Proficiency in HSW systems, incident management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
